Hello
and Happy New Year!
I hope you had
a fantastic New Year!
I just spent
the weekend in the Bahamas with my Mom. We left from Miami on the
Carnival cruise ship Fascination on Friday, January 2. We spent
the entire day on Saturday in Nassau, and had a day at sea on Sunday
before returning to Miami early Monday morning.
I had such a
fantastic time! The weather was so beautiful
I haven't been
on a cruise since I was a kid, so I wasn't sure what to expect.
I was pleasantly surprised!
The cruising
experience is great for me. I'm a certified *work-a-holic*
and always feel like I should be doing something towards that end.
But on a cruise, you are limited in terms of Internet access, and
you have no other choice but to RELAX. I sat in a lounge chair on
the top deck of the boat on Sunday from 8:30am until 5:30pm reading
a book! It was just wonderful. If fact, as soon as I got
home on Monday, Doug and I began searching for a cruise we can take
together over the summer! We are deciding between a cruise to the
Bahamas or a cruise to the British Virgin Islands. Both leave from
New York in July
Time will tell.
We
were only in the Bahamas for one day, but we sure made good use
of our time. We took a boat ride to Blue Lagoon Island. The beaches
were white and the water was crystal clear. I am always amazed by
tropical water - I couldn't stop clicking my digital camera! While
we were there, we explored the island, sat in hammocks on the beach,
hung with the dolphins, and snorkeled with Southern Atlantic Stingrays
at a place called Stingray City. That was a great experience - I
got to swim, touch, and actually feed the stingrays.
We did a bit
of shopping downtown (but, of course!), and finished our day by
touring the Atlantis Hotel. What an amazing place! They had pools
of all shapes and sizes, a water park, an amazing aquarium, and
access to those amazing sandy beaches.
I
found the cruising portion of the trip to be the most enjoyable,
though. There is something to be said about relaxing and sitting
out in the sun all day enjoying a great book. The nightlife on the
boat was fantastic as well. I even had quite a bit of time to sit
at the blackjack table!
Overall, I have
had a great Holiday Season. It is a bit strange being in Florida
and in the sun during a time when I am usually bundled up in a heavy
coat, walking through the mud to pick out the most perfect Christmas
tree to cut down and bring home.
It's now time
to buckle down again, and get back to work! I'm very much looking
forward to it. I have been answering emails continuously and filling
book orders for the past few weeks, but I have mainly been relaxing
and enjoying a bit of needed R&R. I also had surgery this morning
on my jaw - nothing too serious, but I'm glad it's over.
Be on the lookout
for new journal entries coming up
Doug and I have put a few
new marketing techniques in place that are working out well and
providing us with a lot of new business. I'll give a full report
of what we are doing (so you can take advantage of it too for your
business).
I've included
a few pictures from our trip
more will be added soon once
my Mom gets her film developed "the old-fashioned" way!
By for now
Jennifer
P.S. - I've
decided to extend my Holiday Special through the end of January.
