January 26, 2004:
Hello!
I
can't believe that it's almost February already! I've
been in Florida now for three months, and time is flying.
(Because of my home-based Internet businesses, I'm able
to escape the frigid Northeast by living in south Florida
for six months!)
I
just did an interview with a fellow Internet marketer
about my online newsletter. She asked me many questions
about my weekly newsletter including how many subscribers
I have, what is the benefit of an online newsletter, and
what is my favorite method of advertising to name just a
few.
That
interview got me thinking about the sheer significance
of my online newsletter. I truly believe that it is the
#1 most important advantage you can give yourself on the
Internet. My newsletters are my pride and joy, and are
the single most important reason why my home-based Internet
businesses have been so successful.
Whether
you 1) already have a home-based business, 2) are
looking to start one from scratch, or 3) have a traditional
business - arming yourself with a quality online newsletter
will change your bottom line forever.
Over
the next few weeks, I'm going to print a series of
articles on the online newsletter process. Before I get
started with Part 1 of this series, I just have a few
reminders:
*** My Holiday Sale will come to a close at the end
of January (in just six days). If you haven't already, you
can purchase my book, Zero To Six Figures for only $16.99
with free shipping! http://www.ZeroToSixFigures.com/buy.html
*** Be sure to periodically check out my online journal-
"Reality TV" for the home-business owner at
http://www.ZeroToSixFigures.com/journal I've added a few
articles I've been working on (one article is for the
LADIES!) Also, my husband, Doug, and I had a few friends
in town over the weekend, and we went to the Ferrari show
at the Breakers in Palm Beach. I put up a few pictures
from that day, as well as a few from the Championship
football game last weekend where the New England Patriots
earned their way into the Super Bowl!
And
now on to this week's article.

Your Online Newsletter
Part 1 - An Introduction; The Interview
==================================================
"If
you maintain a constant stream of 15,000 current,
active, and truly targeted online newsletter subscribers
coupled with good products, you should generate at least
$200,000 per year."
Quite
a statement, don't you think?
A
few years back, I was taking part in an Internet
conference call and one of the presenters made this point.
I wish I could remember his name, because his statement
truly revolutionized my business. It continues to stick
with me, and my home-based Internet businesses continue to
prove that he was right on the money!
My
online newsletters are the #1 most important component
of my businesses, and this series of articles will go into
great detail on the entire process from setting one up, to
marketing it effectively.
I
want to start with a brief introduction to online
newsletters, and follow-up with an interview that I did
recently with a fellow Internet marketer.
INTRODUCTION:
There
are tens of thousands of online newsletters
(sometimes referred to as "e-zines") being published and
distributed on the Internet each day. These newsletters
target specific groups of people in every category you can
possibly imagine. You pick a subject, and I'm sure you
will find many free newsletters that fit the category.
People
subscribe or "opt-in" to a newsletter that is of
particular interest to them. When people "opt-in," they
are requesting to be added to your mailing list and are
agreeing to be contacted by you via email. People
generally opt-in to an online newsletter by filling out
a web form which requests their name and email addresses.
Once people opt-in, your subsequent emails are not
annoying SPAM, but rather a welcome source of information
to your customers.
***That's
the key! The subscribers have easily and
painlessly identified themselves and have agreed to be
contacted.***
INTERVIEW:
I
just did an interview with a fellow Internet marketer
about my online newsletter.
That
interview got me thinking about the sheer significance
of my online newsletter. I truly believe that it is the
#1 most important advantage you can give yourself on the
Internet. My newsletters are my pride and joy, and are
the single most important reason why my home-based Internet
businesses have been so successful. Here's a portion of
my interview:
Q: How many subscribers does your e-zine have?
A: Over the past few years, I have operated
multiple e-zines. My e-zine for my original business
had over 17,000 active subscribers when I sold that
business. I have another business called SportsToSchool,
and that e-zine has approximately 25,000 subscribers.
My
main e-zine (and my favorite one!!) has about 10,000
subscribers at this time. It is a relatively new e-zine,
and is just a blast to write! It is called, "The Home
Business People Weekly" and is available at my site:
http://www.ZeroToSixFigures.com
"The
Home Business People Weekly" is a free online
newsletter that contains cutting-edge articles on every
aspect of the home-based business process as well as
marketing techniques you can use to have your cash register
ring regularly. If you are serious about successfully
beginning and operating a home-based business, my
newsletter will help.
Q: How long have you been publishing your e-zine?
A: I have been writing and publishing e-zines for
the past four years.
Q: What is your favorite advertising method?
A: I love my "word-of-mouth" subscribers. With
each newsletter issue, I encourage my subscribers to
forward my newsletters to friends, family members, or
colleagues who may have interest in starting a business
from the comfort of home.
Also,
I'm into the "no-cost" advertising model on the
Internet. With each one of my online businesses, my
advertising costs have been little to none. I didn't
have a big budget when I started (in fact, I didn't
have a budget at all! Just my credit card).
Keeping
this in mind, one of my favorite advertising
methods is writing for other e-zines relating to my
subject matter. When my articles are published in other
e-zines, I get subscribers who want to hear more of what
I have to say! It has been a very productive and
successful means of getting my message out there over
the past four years.
Q: What do you like most about publishing an e-zine?
A: My subscribers!! My newsletter subscribers
are my extended family. I communicate with them on a
regular basis, and have developed many friends along
the way. I enjoy answering questions, hearing feedback.
I love to help people make money from home. It is very
satisfying work.
Again,
my newsletter subscribers are like my family.
When I got married, you cannot believe the number of
emails and e-cards I got wishing us well! It's a good
feeling.
Q: What advice would you give to anyone looking
to start an e-zine, or someone who is struggling with
his or her e-zine?
A: I truly believe that a free e-zine is the #1
MOST IMPORTANT ADVANTAGE you can give yourself when
marketing online. It is so important to build
relationships with your subscribers, and prove to them
that you are an expert in your field and that you have
something valuable to offer them.
Also,
just to give you an idea of how powerful an e-zine
can be.
On
the one-year anniversary of the launch of my original
business, I had accumulated approximately 7,500 active
subscribers to my e-zine. I put out a notice to all of
my subscribers letting them know of a limited-time offer
I was having. Because of the reputation I had built with
my subscribers along the way, they seriously took a look
at what I was offering. I earned $6,000 in a single
24-hour period that day, all because of my e-zine!
Take
it seriously and provide valuable information!
Also, make sure you add a personal touch. People want
to hear from a "real" person - they need to be able to
relate to you.
----end
of interview----
Stay tuned for next week's newsletter. We'll continue
with the discussion of online newsletters. If you have
any comments or questions, please feel free to email me
at any time. I love to hear from you.
Have
a GREAT week!
